The new construction of the Almelo city hall consists of a plinth with two office towers. The plinth offers space to representative facilities, public functions, and housing for the management. On top of the plinth a car park will be constructed for around 100 cars that can be reached by means of two car lifts. The two towers are equipped with office spaces set up in accordance with “The New Working”. The floors are switched split-level and are connected via stairs.

Installations, Flexibility & Sustainability

The choice was made to include all installation, both the climate and electrical installation and the sprinkler installations in the floor, in accordance with the “wing floor principle”. Air charge takes place from the floor in accordance with the displacement principle.

The design of the city hall complies with the BREEAM certificate “excellent”. For this, we applied the following sustainable techniques: a WKO installation in combination with the implementation of a surface water system (WOW), natural awning, daylight optimisation, concrete core activation, demand-controlled ventilation. The building is characterised by a huge flexibility of division.
